Linton Zoo is a very pretty zoo surrounded in parkland.
In fact Linton Zoo is really like a park and zoo combined.
It is a nice alternative to Colchester zoo if you don’t want a full day out and want an easier walk around.
It took us from morning to early afternoon to go round at a slow pace and if you take a picnic, it is a really lovely place to be in the sun.
They have some incredible giant tortoises there which look like they are living on the owners front lawn!
There is a lovely tiger at Linton zoo and we were watching it roll around in the sun it seemed to enjoy the sunny weather as much as we did.
Linton Zoo also has leopards and lions to enjoy although the lions were very sleepy and we could not get them to come near to the fence
There was a Brazilian Tapir cub there when we visited and it had lovely stripes on its coat.
There are some nice birds there too including a very colourful Toucan and a Hornbill.
The only downside is that the shop and restaurant are a bit small. It wasn’t a problem when we were there but on busier days it might be as well to take a picnic!
The best part of the day according to Adam was when Hannah came face to face with the Tarantula! She was scared, it was so big and hairy. If you are lucky you can watch the keeper take it out and get a really close look!
For us living in Essex, Linton Zoo is a bit of a drive but it is really worth it. Just don’t expect to have a full day out, take your time walking round and enjoy the gardens too.
